Landscape_photographyYou’ll need to consider:

  • Where you want to go and be prepared for great outdoors (food, waterproof clothing, mobile phone, torch).
  • Look for the best view points (some of the best is simply a different angle)
  • Consider your depth of field, whether you’re going to focus on the foreground, or frame the shot by looking through something like a branch.

Camera: Any Camera with a wide lens, this includes your phone (normally 22-28mm)

Lens : You’ll need a wide angle lens, anything from 10-35mm will get you started.

Something like the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 USM Lens or AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm f/4G ED VR as it gives me a nice range and is super sharp, but any lens in this range will do the trick.

Solid but lightweight Tripod: This is a must! Traditionally when you’re first starting out you need to consider which of following means the most to you, and ideally get a tripod that matching your top 2 priorities.

Ideal Tripod

Something like the Manfrotto Befree Advanced Aluminium Kit – Black

Filters: Polariser and Graduated Neutral Density (GND) filters. These help balance the sky exposure with everything else and reduce reflections
